Margaret Dear Kasande-Köbel

For the last 11 years, she has dedicated herself to supporting marginalized women entrepreneurs, handicraft makers, and refugees in Western Uganda and Namibia. Through her work, she advocates for women’s economic empowerment by promoting entrepreneurship, trade and culture preservation.

She supports over 4000 artisans and refugees organized in 45 handicraft associations, helping them export quality products based on fair and ethical practices. As the board treasurer for the World Fair Trade Organization Africa and the Middle East, Margaret plays a key role in shaping financial strategies and ensuring ethical standards across the region. She is also a Heritage Fellow (2024-2026), an honour awarded to leaders in cultural preservation and economic development. Margaret holds a bachelor’s degree in commerce from Makerere University in Kampala and is a certified member of the Project Management Institute (PMI).
