Buka-Bughendera Farmers Cooperative Society Ltd (BUKA)

Formed in 2015 as an association of parents from three hard to reach primary schools of Bupomboli, Busamba and Karangitso in the mountainous areas of Bundibugyo district – Uganda.

Registered as a cooperative society in 2017.

The association has grown from 32 members in 2015, to 303 members currently, 141 females and 162 males

BUKA’s office is located at Harugale Subcounty- 2km from Bundibugyo Town council.

Currently, BUKA’s production capacity is estimated at 50 MT per annum, of exportable grade high altitude green bean, with an expectation to double within the next 5years, following the establishment of new fields, supported by the government of Uganda under Operation Wealth creation

Kabonero Mountainous Coffee Growers Co-Operative Society Limited (KAMOCOS)

Established in 2013 as a company limited by guarantee, located in the Mountains of the Moon Kabonero Sub- County, Bunyangabu District Rwenzori Region of Western Uganda. Registered as a cooperative society in 2017 and is also Fair trade registered. It was established for sustainable collective marketing of Quality and Quantity coffee for Improved Livelihoods. Started with 400 coffee farmers and in 2015, registered more 201 making a total of 601.

Males = 463

Females = 138

Current capacity 84MT/annum

Their coffee export quantity has grown from 2.1MT in 2013 to 33.1MT in 2017

Karangura Peak Modern Coffee Farmers Cooperative Society Limited

Karangura peak modern coffee farmers started in 2013 with the support from TJX after realizing the low levels of education of children in the two communities of Mount Gessi and Mahyoro primary schools. It started with 400 coffee farmers as an association and later recruited more 200 to make 600 in 2015, 212 Females and 388 males.

In 2017 it registered as a cooperative in the registrar of cooperative under ministry of trade of this country.

Karangura operates under a committee of directors commonly known as BOD of 9 members whose role is to supervise the day today activities done by management.

It has a total number 6 staff member who monitors farmer’s activities
